I'm sure you all have had someone tell you one time or another to 'have a good day', maybe even in the past half hour. Doing sales calls at work I hear that phrase all the time. It was not until today that I really gave that phrase some thought.
This phrase has a different meaning to different people; to some it may mean 'I hope you are enjoying your day', and others it may mean 'be good'. As I was pondering on that phrase not too long ago I thought, what meaning does that phrase have for me? When I finish talking to someone and they say 'have a good day', do I think about that? Do I even try to have a good day to uphold their wishes? How does one have a good day?
One has to make a choice to have a good day, they just don't happen automatically. Reading in my devos one week I came across three or four Psalms in a row that gave me the answer I needed. "Why art thou cast down, O my soul? Trust thou in God, for I will yet praise Him who is the joy of my countenance and my God."
Look to the One who is the joy of life; He will enable you to have a good day.
Having said this, have a great day!
